A dry van is a type of semi-trailer that provides complete enclosure to protect the cargo from external elements. Dry vans are typically used for transporting boxed, palletized, or loose freight that doesn’t require temperature control (in contrast to refrigerated “reefer” units) or oversized shipments (in contrast to flatbed trailers).
